Tom was incredibly sweet, and the class itself was very fun! The atmosphere was welcoming, and I could tell there’s a lot of passion behind what they’re building. That said, there were a few things that could be improved for future classes. All the instructions were given at the very beginning, which might be tricky if it’s your first time or if you learn better by seeing things demonstrated step-by-step as you go. For me personally, I’m more of a visual/learn-as-you-go type, so I got a little lost at points. I did receive the texts saying my pieces were ready for pickup, but when I arrived, they couldn’t find mine. They offered shipping (which was kind), but I ended up making another trip. When I finally picked them up, one was broken. I understand these things happen, but I wish someone had mentioned it before I got there or even when they handle it to me. We were told in class they would fix the pieces a little if they get messed up after the clay hardened, so I’m not sure what happened. It also would’ve been nice if it was clearly stated that you only get to take home two pieces, during the class it’s said you can “make as many as you have time,” so I spent time on extra pieces and then had a tough time deciding which to part with. Clearer info on how the painting process works would also help. An optional painting class or staff painting service could be a great addition in the future. Overall, it was still an enjoyable experience, and I think with a few adjustments, it could be fantastic. I’ll be curious to see how things evolve as they get more established.
